What is soil sweetening?
Microbial life is very sensitive to changes in pH.
When excessive application of chemical NPK fertilisers increases soil acidity, unhelpful microbes that cause pathogenic disease begin to thrive. Extremes of pH make plants prone to disease and stress, and make produce bitter and unpalatable.
Grasses and foods grown on soils with a healthy mineral balance and ideal pH are far more palatable and “sweet” to animals and people.
