What does low-leaching mean?

Our soil leaching research trials compared the leaching behaviour of Shades of Green fertilisers to other commonly available brands of fertilisers. The trials demonstrated that a large amount of the other fertilisers just washes away to pollute our rivers and oceans. Only a small amount is actually taken up by the plant. Therefore, a large percentage of the money you spend on these other fertilisers is wasted.

Our trials showed Shades of Green increases the soil holding capacity, encourages soil microbial life to flourish, and builds a larger root mass. The essential nutrients remain available in the soil and plants take them up through their root zones during the entire season of their growth.

This is in direct contrast to the transient effect of the commonly used conventional NPK fertilisers. These fertilisers produce a rapid spike in growth a few weeks after application, but then they are quickly washed away with the rain. As their effect is only short-lived, you need more frequent applications.
